Spain, Ireland and Norway called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza Strip, and for allowing humanitarian and relief aid to enter the Strip as quickly as possible, stressing the need to implement the decisions of the International Court of Justice.
“The three countries will officially announce the recognition of the State of Palestine tomorrow,” Wafa Agency quoted Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Albares as saying on Monday during a press conference with his Irish and Norwegian counterparts in Brussels.
He stressed that all decisions of the International Court of Justice are binding, and Israel must stop its operations in Rafah.
Albares pointed out that the occupation’s bombing of the city of Rafah took place after the decision of the International Court of Justice to stop the aggression against the city, which requires raising one’s voice in support of international law, indicating that he will ask other European ministers to support the work of the court.
In turn, Irish Foreign Minister Michael Martin clarified the need to stop the war in Gaza and take clear steps to establish a Palestinian state, expressing his condemnation of the occupation’s bombing last night of a camp for displaced people in the city of Rafah.
He stressed that this is a violation of the decision of the International Court of Justice.
For his part, Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said: “Recognition of the Palestinian of state is part of a policy aimed at achieving peace in the Middle East, and Norway’s decision to recognize the State of Palestine enters into force starting tomorrow,” calling on European countries to consider this to follow in their footsteps.
Eide pointed out that the massacre committed by the occupation in Rafah yesterday was barbaric, calling for an end to the aggression against the city, for an immediate ceasefire and for strengthening humanitarian and relief efforts in the Strip.
Eddy stated that the occupation’s continued aggression against Rafah is a violation of the binding International Court of Justice’s decision and the international humanitarian law, stressing the need for the Security Council to resort to implementing the decision of ICJ.
