South Africa stresses the need for urgent action to ensure the prevention of further acts of genocide in Gaza Strip

Pretoria (ST) – South Africa affirmed the need for urgent action to ensure the prevention of further acts of genocides by the Israeli occupation forces in Gaza Strip.

Media outlets quoted Vincent Magwenya, the official spokesman for the President of South Africa, as saying today: “The International Court of Justice (ICJ) must take provisional measures to protect and implement its order issued on January 26, without holding a hearing, given the seriousness of the situation in Rafah, south of Gaza Strip.”

He stressed that the Israeli attack on Rafah may constitute a serious violation of the Genocide Convention and the aforementioned order of the ICJ.

“Our country is awaiting the court’s quick response in view of the continuation of daily brutal killings against the Palestinians”,  Magwenya added.

It is noteworthy that last month, the ICJ issued its ruling regarding taking provisional measures in the lawsuit filed by South Africa against “Israel” regarding the commission of genocide in the Gaza Strip. The court ordered the Zionist entity to take urgent measures to prevent acts of genocide and ensure the flow of humanitarian aid to the Strip.
