Washington-(ST)- South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor confirmed that the Israeli entity sets a dangerous precedent in defying the decisions of the highest court in the United Nations, noting that Gaza is witnessing a starvation campaign as a result of the practices and policies of the Israeli occupation.
Agence France-Presse quoted Pandor as saying at a symposium at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace during a visit to Washington: “Israel defied a decision issued by the International Court of Justice last January in which it ordered it to do everything in its power to prevent genocide in Gaza,” adding: “We are currently witnessing “There is mass starvation and famine before our eyes, and this prompts us to warn of the repercussions of a step that may set an example.”
Pandor explained that Israel’s behavior could be interpreted by countries as being able to do whatever they want without any accountability.
South Africa is suing the Israeli occupation before the International Court of Justice for committing genocide in its ongoing brutal aggression against the Gaza Strip.
