Sousan: “We, as Arabs, seek unifying our work to fortify the Arab position”

The Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Sousan has stated that the first session of the meeting of delegates and senior officials in Jeddah came to an end and the draft resolutions on the agenda were discussed, in a serious, transparent and open atmosphere.

In a press statement after the meeting, Sousan said: There is awareness about the need for the Jeddah summit to usher in a new phase of joint Arab action, transcending the past with all the effects that were reflected on our Arab countries and looking forward to the future. He noted the great welcome the Syrian delegation in these meetings has received, as many have said that the Syrian participation will be a great addition to the joint Arab action.

Sousan pointed to the endeavor of all the Arabs to unify their work in order to fortify the Arab position and to respond to the various challenges facing the Arab nation, especially the challenge of development and changes in the international arena.

Sousan added: “We hope that this summit will meet the aspirations of our peoples. We discussed various issues in some countries, such as Sudan and Libya, in addition to the return of the displaced Syrians, as well as other topics.”

Regarding the return of the displaced Syrians, Sousan affirmed: “The state carried out all due amnesty decrees, national reconciliations, and procedures, but that return has requirements, the most important of which is the provision of services in the areas of these citizens, which is hindered by the sanctions and an economic blockade”.

Sousan explained that The countries that practice these coercive measures on the Syrian people are the ones that impede the return of the displaced Syrians to their country.”
He stressed that humanitarian aid should not be subject to sanctions, but whoever imposes them on Syria claims falsely that they don’t affect human condition.

In another statement to journalists after the sessions ended, Soussan said: “The discussion of the draft resolutions that are in the agenda has been completed, and tomorrow they will be presented at the meeting of foreign ministers.”

He stressed that the joint Arab action is the only way to improve the Arab position and defend our interests and rights to face the challenges and achieve prosperity for citizens in all Arab countries.

“This is the age of blocs, and if we are not aware of that, the results will not be good. There is awareness a deep awareness of the importance of improving the Arab position,” Soussan added.

On the climate summit, Soussan said: “This issue has been discussed… There are threats from this climate change that we may not feel today, but we must realize them, so that we do not suffer from this issue, and there is an awareness of this risk.”

As forthe issue of organizing the Arab Summit, Soussan considered that the organization is good at all levels, especially the method of managing the meetings, noting that the representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, whose country chairs the summit meetings, managed the sessions today with wisdom and patience.
