Sousan: The American and Turkish occupation forces hinder the complete return of stability to Syria

Sochi, (ST) – Dr. Ayman Sousan, head of the Syrian Arab Republic’s delegation to the 15th International Meeting on Syria within the Astana format in the city of Sochi, affirmed that the presence of the American and Turkish occupation forces is the main factor that impedes the complete return of stability to Syria, defeating terrorism, ending the unjust war and it encourages separatist movements and the crimes that they carry out against our people in the Syrian Al-Jazeera region.

Sousan said during a press conference on Wednesday at the conclusion of the international meeting that, the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic held many bilateral meetings within the framework of the fifteenth round talks of Astana meetings, including meetings with the Russian and Iranian friends and the special envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General to Syria Geir Pederson and the Iraqi delegation, during which we stressed the importance of the Astana framework and the results it achieved in terms of combating terrorism

He stressed that, Syria is convinced that more positive results can be achieved at various levels if the Turkish regime were to adhere to the agreements concluded with the Russian side to eliminate terrorist organizations and end the anomalous situation in the de-escalation zone in Idlibsaying that, what we see on the ground through the actions of the Turkish regime contradicts not only these understandings, but is a flagrant violation of all international charters and laws.

Susan indicated that the Turkish regime is the protector of these terrorist organizations and is enhancing its military presence as an occupying power and is carrying out practices that reveal its expansion plans in Syria.

Susan added that, in addition to all these crimes of the Turkish regimeit has cut  water off the city of Al-Hasakah for  more than 18 times, some of which have  extended for more than a month. This amounts to war crimes.”

Susan indicated that during the meetings, the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic reiterated the importance of moving away from politicizing the humanitarian issue in Syria and the importance of aid delivery to those who deserve it without any discrimination or politicization and in light of full respect for the sovereignty of Syria.

He also emphasized the need to condemn the unilateral coercive and illegal measures imposed by the West on Syria in a blatant violation of the principles of international humanitarian law and the most basic of human rights, and negatively affect on the life and subsistence of the Syrian citizen.

Sousan pointed out that, the delegation stressed the necessity to end the suffering of the kidnapped by terrorist groups and to return them to their homes and families. He stressed that this matter is a priority for the Syrian state that continues to be positively and actively participant in the political process.

Sousan added that, “Syria rejects any external interference in the work of the Constitution Discussion Committee, which is led by Syria.”
