Sousan discusses with Asghar Khaji developments in Syria and the region

(ST): An official session of talks was held in the Kazakh capital this morning between the Syrian delegation headed by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Ayman Soussan, and the Iranian delegation headed by Ali Asghar Khaji, Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, within the framework of the 19th international meeting on Syria in the Astana format.

During the meeting, they discussed the current developments in Syria and the region and the topics on the agenda of the international meeting, where the views were identical on those issues.

Asghar Khaji affirmed Iran’s support for the unity and territorial integrity of Syria and its absolute rejection of any action that affects that, which will only lead to an escalation of the situation in the region.

For his part, Dr. Soussan stressed that Syria stands by Iran in the face of the campaign it is exposed to, stressing confidence in Iran’s ability to address the current situation and thwart the hostile scheme.

The two sides agreed to continue coordination and consultation regarding the current challenges.
