Some Countries’ Support for Terrorists Prolonged Crisis in Syria: Larijani

TEHRAN, (ST)- Speaker of the Iranian Shura Council (Parliament) Ali Larijani has stressed that the support provided by some countries to terrorists has prolonged the crisis in Syria and has been behind the spread of terrorist takfiri organizations in the region.

In a statement to the “al-Mayadeen” channel broadcast Monday night, Larijani said the support provided by the United States and some western countries in addition to Saudi Arabia and Turkey to these terrorist organizations was an absolutely wrong behavior by these countries.

He called on countries of the region to deal with the crisis in Syria in accordance with facts on ground and not to seek imposing their will with the purpose of prolonging the crisis.

He pointed out that Iran respects and supports the Syrian people’s option to decide their own future.
