Some 100 Syrian Companies Take Part in Beirut Garments Exhibition

BEIRUT, (ST)_Activities of the Syrian special clothing and supplies (Syria Mod) started yesterday with the participation of more than 100 Syrian companies, specialized in clothing,at Biel International Exhibition center.

The exhibition, organized by the Syrian exporters union and Damascus and Aleppo Chambers of industry,was attended by several Syrian producers of clothing and children garments and representatives of shipping companies and banks.

Lebanese Industry Minister Hussein Hajj Hassan said in an opening statement: “We stand by Syria and support its industry while paying a heavy price on behalf of all the Arab nation, adding that “despite all events taking place in Syria, and the imposed economic, security and political pressure and the embargo, Syrian industrialists are able to stand a chance and export.

He pointed out that “after four and a half years of crisis and terrorist attack Syria is moving along with the axis of resistance to achieve victory on terrorism, adding that “in this exhibition Syrian economic, political, military and people steadfastness are integrated, to achieve victory.”

For his part, head of the Syrian Union of Exporters Mohammed Sawah said “the exhibition is a message to the whole world, to that Syria is a country of institutions, and is able to produce, export and keep abreast of developments in all fields,” pointing out that this event comes within the framework of the Union’s efforts to promote Syrian exports to enhance the Syrian industry and national economy.

Chairman of Damascus and Damascus countryside Chamber of Industry Samer al-Dibs said that that this exhibition proves once again that Syria was and will remain a permanent minaret for industry, in spite of all the risks, resulted from attacks and terrorism, pointing out that the broad participation of exhibitors confirms that the Syrian industry always keeps up with developments at all levels.

The exhibition, which will continue until August 8, on  an area of 3,000 square meters includes an exhibition of leather industry, plastic arts, exhibition of flowers and ornamental plants.

The “Syria Mod “exhibition has been a successful event in marketing the Syrian product in the field of fashion and textile industries and requirements of fabrics industry production.

Later in the day, Lebanese Industry Minister met with a delegation of the Syrian exporters federation, during which, bilateral cooperation in the field of export and industry was discussed.
