Solution to Crisis in Syria Should Be Based on Supporting the Syrian State: Ex-Czech Minister

PRAGUE, (ST)- Former Czech Foreign Minister Cyril Svoboda has called for finding a solution to the crisis in Syria based on supporting the Syrian state, affirming that the world is now facing the biggest threat and fighting in an untraditional global war.

In a statement to the Czech “Parliamentary Papers” website, Svoboda said “efforts aiming to put an end to war in Syria need to be exerted in cooperation with Russia and they should be based on supporting the Syria state.”

“Peace can’t be attained in Syria without President Bashar Al-Assad’s participation,” the Czech former minister stressed.

He reiterated the need to find a solution to the refugee influx into Europe and to implement Minsk2 agreement on settling the Ukrainian crisis.

In a recent interview with the Czech TV, former leader of the UN General Assembly and ex-foreign Minister of the Czech Republic Jan Kavan has asserted that the Syrian Arab Army is the main and biggest force that is effectively fighting terrorism.
