Solidarity stands in Canada and Bulgaria  demanding the lifting of sanctions on Syria

On March 19th, a large number of Syrian students studying in Bulgaria, members of the Syrian community, representatives of the International Campaign to End the Siege of Syria, and Bulgarian popular parties and activities gathered in front of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to demand an end to the siege imposed on the Syrian people.

Participants called for allowing the arrival of all aid and materials necessary for the daily life of the Syrian people.They also called for  contributing  to the reconstruction of the country, especially after the earthquake that hit Syria last month.

In a speech on behalf of the Bulgarian movements and currents, Svetozar Sayf stressed the need for the immediate lifting of the sanctions imposed on the Syrian people, in addition to providing aid to contribute to the reconstruction of Syria.

He referred to a joint statement that the Bulgarian parties and  the leadership of the Bulgarian branch of the National Union of Syrian Students will submit to the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in this regard.

The participants raised the Syrian and Bulgarian national flags, pictures of the earthquake’s destruction, and banners calling for breaking and ending the siege.

In continuation of the campaign “Lift the Siege on Syria”, the Syrian Association in Ottawa carried out a solidarity stand in front of the US Embassy building in the Canadian capital on March 18th.

During the stand, the protesters called for lifting the coercive measures imposed on Syria.

The Syrian community in the Canadian city of Mississauga held a similar stand of solidarity.

The participants called for the lifting of unfair sanctions for their inhuman repercussions on the Syrian people.
