Solidarity stand in Damascus to support Palestinian imprisoned women, children, and those on hunger strike in Israeli occupation jails

The Committee to Support Released Prisoners and Syrian Detainees in Israeli Occupation Prisons and the Committee for Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners in the Diaspora which reports to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, organized a solidarity stand today to support the hunger strikers and the children and women imprisoned in the occupation jails. The stand has been organized in front of the office of the United Nations Children’s Fund “UNICEF” in Damascus.
The participants in the vigil handed the UNICEF office in Damascus a memorandum calling on international and human rights institutions, especially those concerned with children’s rights, to urgently and quickly intervene to rescue these prisoners and provide them with protection, and to stop attempts  that aim to target them and destroy their future.
The participants also called for putting pressure on the unjust Zionist occupation, to stop the arrest of Palestinians without a clear and explicit indictment, and further to urgently intervene in order to save the lives of the hunger strikers, and to work for the release of each of the prisoners Nasser Abu Hamid “sick of lung cancer” and the child Ahmed Al-Manasra arrested while he was 13 years old, and today he is 20 years old, as well as Israa Al-Jaabis who has serious burns and a deteriorating health condition.
The participants pointed out that the policy of arresting Palestinian children constitutes one of the consistent barbaric policies pursued by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people. Statistics and documented testimonies of child detainees confirm that the majority of children who were arrested have been subjected to physical and psychological torture.
The participants explained that the occupation’s prison administration detains children in detention centers and prisons that lack the minimum humanitarian elements, as it deprives many of them of their right to education, medical treatment, and the basic needs such as bringing clothes, books and personal items while the occupation flagrantly commits crimes against children.
A number of leaders and representatives of Palestinian factions, as well as cultural and social events, participated in the stand.
