Al-Assad University Hospital in Damascus has implemented the new solar energy project , which will provide hot water around the clock for all the residential buildings of the hospital, which include housing for postgraduate doctors, nurses, staff and a nursery for children.
Director of the hospital, Dr. Nizar Abbas, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the project provides about 30,000 liters of hot water around the clock, covering the needs of about 600 people distributed over three storey buildings, without using the fuel that will be provided to other places in the hospital.
The air conditioning and refrigeration unit for the operations and intensive care section in the hospital was put into service, which have been out of order for more than ten years.
Dr. Abbas indicated that the unit was repaired with the expertise of hospital engineers and technicians. About 800 million Syrian pounds were saved for the purchase of new refrigeration equipment.
