Social Affairs Minister Rima al-Qadri has underscored the need for partnership between the ministry and civil society to rehabilitate the people with special needs, particularly the blind, for the inclusion of persons with disabilities in society.
Her remark was made during relaunching the ‘al-Nour’ kindergarten for rehabilitating and teaching the blind children in Damascus on Sunday.
The kindergarten receives the blind children free and it includes two classrooms for teaching both blind and sighted children to achieve integration among them and to rehabilitate them to enter the basic education stage through cooperation with the Association for Blind people , the kindergarten’s Director Hala Wazzan told the official news agency (SANA).
The Association for the Blind people supervises the kindergarten and ensues the basic needs for children, including buses for conveying them and health services.
The ‘al-Nour’ kindergarten was established in 2003. It affiliates to the Association for the Blind people that was founded in 1973.
