On the occasion of the International Women’s Day, Social Affairs Ministry has honored 20 women experienced domestic violence.
The honoring ceremony was held Saturday in the ‘Yasmin al-Sham’ hall in Damascus under the slogan” the homeland’s jasmines do not bow down.’
Minister of Social Affairs Rema Qadri said that the constitution of the Syrian Arab Republic guarantees equality between man and women in rights and duties and opportunities.
“Syria has made great strides in field of protecting woman through a package of legislations, which adhere to the international treaties,” she added , indicating that honoring women, who have experienced domestic violence, means honoring the strong will of those women and their role in developing their society and building their homeland.
The Executive Director of the Syrian Family Planning Association (SFPA) Lama al-Mowaqqe’a said that Syrian woman has played an active role in society and has proved her ability to stand by man in all fields.
