Damascus, (ST) – Bankers believe that small enterprises play a significant social role in providing jobs and social stability for young people and reduce poverty, begging and crime.
Dr. Mohammed Zafer Mahbaq underlined the importance of the combination of science and work for the success of any project and securing necessary funding and marketing and consider it objectively as the nucleus of a large project in the future,
pointing out that the problems of small enterprises lie in the funding, custody and care, calling for continuous evaluation of their effectiveness and to develop mechanisms suit the current stage.
Director of Marketing and Communication Bana Mohammed Saifo said that the most important challenges facing small entrepreneurs at this time is the difficulty of the necessary funding to support existing projects or start new projects, especially that the banks stopped lending during the crisis.
The banker Wassim al-Rifai beleives that the small enterprise is evaluated in terms of the number of labor and capital which is the nucleus of a large project, pointing to the importance of economic feasibility in obtaining the necessary, asserting that the project studied properly receives the necessary support and turns into a successful project.
The Central Bank confirmed the work on the creation of Foundation for Loan Guarantee. The Cabinet stressed in its last session on the implementation of the decision issued by the Monetary and Credit Council to grant operating loans for small and medium-sized enterprises, stressing the development of operational mechanisms to start granting loans, informed sources said.
