Slovakia’s FM Urges EU to Be Active in Reaching Political Solution to Crisis in Syria

Slovakian Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák has called on the European Union to play an active role in the process of reaching a political solution to crisis in Syria.

He was quoted by the Slovakian television as saying after the meeting of EU Foreign Ministers that priority must be given to ending violence and to fighting terrorist and extremist groups, including ISIS.

“The main part of the EU activities should be to offer humanitarian aid to civilians in Syria,” the FM said, indicating that his country offered last month health aid plus other related materials to hospitals in Aleppo and Homs worth Euro 135.000.

Last Saturday, Leader of the Communist Party of Slovakia warned against the continuity of the wrong policy of the United States and west towards Syria, saying that this policy increases violence and extremism all over the world and prolongs catastrophic scenarios if international wills have not been reactivated before it is too late.
