DAMASCUS, (ST)-The Syrian Health Ministry on Sunday confirmed six new cases of coronavirus for persons who had close contact with corona patients in Jdydet al-Fadl town which is affiliated to Quneitra province.
The new cases raise the number of infections in Syria to 204 of which 83 patients have recovered and 7 have died.
The Health Ministry last night announced a lockdown on Jdydet al-Fadl after a number of coronavirus cases were detected in the town. The aim is to prevent the outbreak of the pandemic and preserve public health and citizen’s safety.
The first coronavirus case was confirmed in Syria on March 22 for a person who came from abroad, while the first death with this disease was reported on March 29.
