Six health facilities opened in Homs 

The Ministry of Health on Wednesday opened 6 health facilities in Homs after they were rehabilitated due to damage caused by terrorist acts. The aim is to strengthen health services provided to citizens.

The facilities set up for providing health service included Homs National Hospital in the Jouret al-Shayah neighborhood, the specialized physiotherapy center in the Jub al-Jandali neighborhood and the forensic medicine building in the Al-Wa’er neighborhood, health centers in the al-Bayada, al-Khalidiyah and al-Qusour neighborhoods.

The Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan al-Ghabash also inspected the emergency systems in several  facilities. He said in a statement to the media, that the ambulance and emergency system had been provided with two new fully equipped ambulances to enhance response to citizens’ health emergency needs.

He explained that the opening of the 4 health centers ensures that more than 51 thousand citizens have access to specialized medical services. The opening of the Centre for Forensic Medicine in Al-Wa’er also offers a number of services, including medical checkup and psychological support, indicating that the total number of medical cadres who will provide services in the 6 facilities is more than 272 doctors, nurses and technical staff members.

During the opening of Homs National Hospital, Minister Al-Ghabash explained that the hospital was rehabilitated by the efforts of national cadres after it was out of service as a result of terrorist acts. It consists of 4 fully equipped floors, where the hospital started providing its services experimentally about a month ago.

For his part, the chairman of the General Authority of Homs National Hospital, Dr. Elie Azer, explained the importance of the National Hospital in Homs, as the basis in the health sector system in the governorate.

The head of the Centers division at the Homs health directorate, Khader Al-Saleh, pointed out that a comprehensive rehabilitation has been carried out for most of the centers that were out of service, including the centers that were opened today and provided with the latest medical equipment, in order to serve citizens free of charge with the availability of a full medical cadres for all centers.

The director of the Office of follow-up of the wounded Affairs and the head of the specialized center for physical therapy and rehabilitation in the Homs health directorate, Dr. Oras Rajouh, said that four physical therapy halls equipped with the latest devices have been opened. Civilians and military personnel are being received at the center.

The head of Al-Qasur Medical Center, Dr. Rushdi Al-Fares, pointed out that the center has been rehabilitated and provided with medical, laboratory and eco-equipment, and provides services for Leishmania patients, women, laboratory tests and children, in addition to implementing some health programs in the governorate, and serving the people of the neighboring neighborhoods.

The head of the second Health Zone, Dr. Ayham Al-Issa, pointed out that the center has been provided with the required equipment, as it provides laboratory services, a women’s clinic, Reproductive Health, Children, children’s vaccines and teeth, and the center’s services serve a wide segment of the people of the region.
