MOSCOW- The situation in Syria has significantly improved, with the terrorists having suffered significant losses, Russian President Vladimir Putin has stressed.
He made the remarks on Saturday during the talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of the G20 summit.
He also noted that a significant progress in the settlement of the crisis in Syria was reached.
The Russian president highly appreciated the positions of all partners taking part in the negotiating process on Syria
Putin hailed the recent developments in the bilateral Russian-Turkish relations.
“Much work has been recently done both for the comprehensive development of the bilateral relations and for solving a number of issues interesting for us,” the Russian leader said.
On Friday, the Russian President and his US counterpart Donald Trump met on the sidelines of the G20 summit and discussed the crises in Syria and Ukraine as well as the fight against terrorism.
In a press conference following the Putin-Trump meeting, Sergey Lavrov, Russia’s Foreign Minister, said that Russia and the United States have the same stance on preserving the territorial integrity of Syria.
The G20 summit kicked off on Friday in the German city of Hamburg.
