Situation in Syria Proceeding towards Finding Political Solution to Crisis: Chinese Diplomat

BEIRUT, (ST)-China’s Ambassador to Lebanon Wang Kejian believes that the situation is Syria is proceeding towards finding a political solution to the crisis in Syria, because all parties have unanimously agreed that this crisis can’t be solved except through political means.

Interviewed by the Lebanese “al-Binaa” newspaper published on Tuesday, Kejian said the international community, including China, must push strongly towards attaining political settlement in Syria.

The Chinese ambassador stressed that China’s stance on the crisis in Syria is firm and well-known based on the priority of achieving political solution. He noted the positive developments occurred in this crisis, particularly after the liberation of Aleppo from terrorism, the local reconciliation deals reached in several Damascus countryside towns and villages and the talk about more reconciliation deals to be reached in other areas.

 Kejian went on to say that Astana meeting will be a step leading to a new round of political talks in Geneva or in any other place.

The Chinese diplomat, who reiterated that China is ready to take part in Syria’s reconstruction process, said that “China has sent batches of humanitarian aid to the Syrian people through the Syrian Red Crescent and the Syrian government.”

He referred to the historical relations linking between Syria and China, and expressed the Chinese people’s feeling of pain over the destruction caused to Syria and the ongoing bloodshed in the country.

He went on to say that China seeks ensuring suitable environment for political solution and is ready to participate in reconstruction in Syria.
