Sit-ins and Protests continue in a number of Lebanese regions

Beirut, (ST) – Protests, sit-ins, and road closures continued in a number of Lebanese regions today calling for accelerating the formation of the Lebanese government, improving living conditions and fighting corruption.

The protesters closed at dawn Halba Aleppo highway completely to the north with iron tires and barriers, and called continue to Tripoli and sit in front of the companies, according to the Lebanese National Media Agency.

At night, protesters closed a number of roads in Zahleh district, and the main Saadnayel Talbaya road was still closed, while the Jidita-Al-Aali-Qeb Elias roads were reopened, which were closed during the night hours.

The traffic control room reported that the traffic on Jounieh highway towards Beirut, Halba Al-Abdeh road, Al-Baddawi Square, and Al-Minya Highway, Arman locality in Tripoli, North Lebanon came to stop.

Protesters massed themselves outside the Zahle Saraya in the Bekaa since seven in the morning, amid the spread of security forces, and they closed the entrance to the Ministry of Finance building and the Ogero and Libanpost centers.

Meanwhile, the Lebanese army opened this morning most of the international, main and branch roads that protesters had closed in and around Tripoli from yesterday night until the early morning hours with burning tires, concrete cubes and waste containers.

Since October 17, Lebanon has witnessed sit-ins and demonstrations demanding improvement in living conditions, fighting corruption and holding corrupt people accountable.
