Sit-ins and blocking roads renewed in some Lebanese regions

Beirut, (ST) – Sit-ins and blocking roads were renewed in some Lebanese regions demanding improvement of living conditions and accountability for the corrupt.

The Lebanese National News Agency reported protesters gathered and carried out sit-ins in front of banks and banking centers in Sidon and forced them to close in protest against their lack of commitment to legal financial transactions.

Also in Nabatiyeh, southern Lebanon, a number of protesters organized movements in front of banks and banking centers in Kafrman to protest against financial policies and high prices.

In Akkar, in northern Lebanon, sit-ins were carried out in front of a number of official departments and institutions to protest against the high prices and to demand an end to corruption.

Yesterday night, protesters blocked roads in Beirut, Sidon and Bekaa areas as well as the Jiyyeh Damour road in the south. The Lebanese army is working to open some of these roads today.

Since October 17, Lebanon has been witnessing sit-ins demanding improved living conditions.
