Sit-in in Tunis calling for restoring Tunisia’s ties with Syria

A number of activists representing Tunisian organizations and parties on Saturday organized a sit-in at Habib Bourguiba Street in the Capital Tunis to call for restoring relations with Syria.

Head of the Association of the Mediterranean Lawyers and Jurists, Hammadi Bakkar, said that this event expresses the continuous calls by a large segment of Tunisians for restoring relations with Syria and it aims at celebrating the success of the presidential elections in Syria in which President Bashar Al-Assad has won.

Ratiba Al-Miladi, one of the organizers of the sit-in, said that the calls for restoring ties with Syria have never stopped, affirming that the Tunisian government must comply with this urgent call.

Talal Al-Hassan, head of the Syrian Community’s Society in Tunisia, highly appreciated the Tunisian people’s call for restoring the fraternal relations between Syria and Tunisia, reiterating that Syria’s success in holding the presidential elections and the victory of the President Bashar Al-Assad affirm that Syria has triumphed over the global war waged on it.

Hassan Diab, a Syrian living in Tunisia, said that restoring relations between Tunisia and Syria has become a very urgent national issue, reiterating that Syria has emerged victorious over all reactionary and takfiri forces and that holding the presidential elections expresses the Syrian people’s will.
