Sit-in in Tulkarm in Solidarity with The Palestinian Prisoners in Israeli Jails

Dozens of Palestinians held a solidarity stand in the city of Tulkarm in the West Bank today Tuesday to call on the international community, the human rights institutions and the International Red Cross to urgently intervene in order to save the lives of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli occupation detention.

The participants in the stand in front of the Red Cross office stressed the need to support the prisoners in light of the violations and brutal practices these prisoners are subjected to by the occupation authorities. The participants demanded the world community to exercise pressure on occupation authorities for the release of the detainees. The Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails are topped by the female detainees who organize hunger strikers but consequently fall sick, namely the elderly of them who are subject to deliberate medical neglect.

About 5,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails face harsh detention conditions, including about 600 prisoners who are in need for urgent medical care.
