Sit-in Before Italian Parliament Supporting Syria Against Terrorism

ROME, (ST) _ The Syrian community in Italy and the European front in defense of Syria held a sit-in yesterday before the Italian Parliament under the title “against terrorism, and for the sake of Syria, its civilization.”

In the petition submitted to the Italian Parliament, participants in the sit in called for ending the unjust economic blockade on the Syrian people, restoring diplomatic relations between the two countries, opening of embassies, respect the legitimacy of the Syrian state, and assist in eliminating the terrorist organizations, reconstruction and protection of the Syrian heritage from destruction and theft.

Syrian and Italian flags were hoisted, and a huge banner was placed in front of the parliament with slogans read: “I am Syrian“, “years of global terrorism’, “years of media hypocrisy“, and “ years of steadfastness by resistant people “, while other raised slogans “Long live Syria“, “greetings for the Syrian army”, and “ We are all Syrians “.

Several speeches were read by members of the Syrian community explaining the current situation and the continued crimes committed by terrorist organizations on the Syrian territory.

In similar speeches, members of the European front in defense of Syria greeted the Syrian army and the steadfast and resistant Syrian people.

At the end of the sit in, a group of the Syrian community, including Bishop Hilarion Cappucci, Bishop of Jerusalem in exile, with representatives from the front met with Italian Parliamentarian Rafael Volpe of the Northern League, “ National Association “.

Volpe expressed his support for the Syrian people, stressing that he will visit Syria to see what was going on there.
