Head of the Syrian Investment Agency (SIA) Hala Ghazal has stressed that the project of reconstruction in Syria will depend on national funds and on the contributions of Syrian expatriates and friendly countries with whom Syria have equal legal relations.
During her meeting with the delegation of the Commission for Defending Syria in Sweden on Tuesday, Ghazal said the Syrian expatriates can contribute to the reconstruction process through stock companies and through providing technical and scientific skills.
“Reconstruction will be based on modern ideas, tools, methods and a diverse investment map covering all sectors and focusing on small, medium and micro-sized enterprises, she added, stressing the important role of the Syrian expatriates in the reconstruction era.
Ghazal briefed the delegation on the SIA’s activities and the facilitations it provided to investors, in addition to Syria’s investment map and priorities of investment for the coming era. She also talked about the huge damage caused to Syrian industrial facilities as a result of the armed terrorist groups attacks.
Members of the delegation affirmed the importance of linking the five seas via a trade line in order to link Syria to the countries of BRICS group.
They stressed the need to carry out qualitative projects, particularly small and craft enterprises, to maintain the steadfastness of the Syrian Pound and to depend on the abilities and skills of the local work force.
For his part, Head of the Commission for Defending Syria George Elias said the delegation toured the Syrian markets and saw that most of the citizens’ basic needs are available. He stressed that the delegation will brief the Syrian communities abroad on the Syrian people’s relief and medical needs and will work hard to promote possible investments in Syria.
“Grigor Ahibreg”, a civil engineer and the delegation’s Swedish member, who hoped he could contribute to the reconstruction process in Syria, reiterated the need to preserve Syria’s strategic position and to restore the Silk Road.
He believed that reconstruction plan should begin at political, economic and social levels and in coordination and cooperation with the Syrian communities abroad, asserting that focus must be on future projects targeting the youths.
