Shulgin: Terrorists are preparing for a new chemical provocation in Idlib

On October 28, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Ambassador Alexander Shulgin announced that terrorists are preparing for a new chemical provocation in Idlib.

“In Idlib, the terrorists are preparing for a new chemical provocation,” Shulgin told reporters. “This is part of the attempts of terrorists and their supporters to send an investigation team that accuses Russia and Syria of being responsible.”

“Syrians know that chemical munitions enter the country and they know from which countries they are coming and the names of the people responsible for the provocations being prepared,” Shulgin said.

On October 9, Syria renewed its strong condemnation of the use of chemical weapons and expressed its deep concern about the attempts of some countries, led by the United States to make baseless accusations and fabrications against Syria.

Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Bashar Jaafari, spoke in December about some countries’ blindness to more than 160 letters sent by the Syrian government to the UN Secretary-General, the UN Security Council and the Counter-Terrorism Committees on the possession and use of terrorist groups of chemical materials.
