Shulgin: Russia will verify information about Washington’s destruction of its last stockpiles of chemical weapons

Moscow, (ST) – Russia’s delegate to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons(OPCW) Alexander Shulgin announced that his country will verify information regarding the destruction of US’ chemical weapons .

“Russia will remain vigilant and will verify information related to the destruction of the United States’ last stockpiles of chemical weapons,” Shulgin was quoted as saying by TASS during an online press conference. He added that Washington has now announced that it has completed the program to destroy chemical weapons.

For decades, the United States of America maintained stockpiles of artillery ammunition and missiles containing mustard gas or nerve gases, such as Sarin and VX, while the use of these weapons was widely condemned after the world witnessed their horrific effects, but a number of countries maintained and developed their chemical weapons programs.

In a related context, Shulgin confirmed that his country sent a total of 23 verbal notes to the technical secretariat of the organization about the use of toxic substances as chemical weapons by the Kiev regime, warning of imminent provocations, but the information received from Russia was not taken into account.

Shulgin said that all this information is carefully monitored and analyzed, but the technical secretariat of the organization doesn’t believe that there is a need to send a team of experts and specialists, already present in the technical secretariat, to Ukraine.
