Shtayyeh calls on the UNESCO to protect the archaeological and heritage sites in Palestine 

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammd Shtayyeh called on the United Nation Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization UNESCO, to shoulder its responsibilities in protecting the archaeological and heritage sites in Palestine from the Israeli occupation’s attempts to control and Judaize them.

Wafa News Agency quoted Shtayyeh as saying in a statement today: the attacks of the Israeli occupation and settlers on Palestinian archeological sites are constantly escalating, especially in the town of Sebastia north west of Nablus city and the area of Ain Al Hawaiya , which is rich in springs, west of the village of Hussan in  the city of Bethlehem in the West Bank in an attempt to Judaize it.

Shtayyeh warned that the occupation’s seizure of most springs and fresh water sources leads to a significant shortage in the supply of potable water in the occupied Palestinian territories, indicating that the recent sharp reduction by the occupation of the water quotas allocated for the city of Al Khalil(Hebron) and Bethlehem is considered a racist and discriminatory measure that deprives the Palestinian of their basic rights.

Shtayyeh pointed out that while the occupation prevents water from the Palestinians , it doubles the quantities allocated to then settlers, noting that the average of Palestinian per capita consumption of water does not exceed 72 liters per day, which is less than the minimum internationally recommended according to the standards of the World Health Organization which is 100 liters per today , while a signal settler consume 320 liters per day.
