Shoigu: Entire Mariupol is under the control of the Russian army

Moscow (ST): Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu confirmed today that the Russian army has imposed full control over the city of Mariupol.

Shoigu was quoted as saying by Sputnik agency “Normal life is returning to its course in the areas liberated from ultra-nationalists in the republics of Lugansk, Donetsk and Ukraine, including in Mariupol, the largest industrial and transportation center on the Sea of Azov, which is under the control of the Russian army”.

 

Shoigu added: “According to the instructions of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, a tight cordon was imposed on the militants in the industrial zone of the Azovstal factory, and they ignore the repeated proposals to release civilians and lay down their arms,” explaining that the Russian forces continue their special operation, and currently units of the Russian army are working side by side with the troops of the People’s Republic of Lugansk and Donetsk Republics expanded control over the territories of the two republics.

He indicated that the Russian army is actively working to provide humanitarian aid to the residents of the liberated cities, indicating that 967 humanitarian works were carried out, in which 279 residential areas received 17,567 tons of basic goods and materials.
