Shipment of humanitarian aid, sent by Syrian community in Bulgaria and Bulgarian people to earthquake-effected people, arrives in Tartous Port
Tartous-(ST)- A Ship carrying humanitarian aid, provided by the Bulgarian people and Syrian expatriates in Bulgaria to those affected by the earthquake in Syria last year, arrived at the port of Tartous on Thursday. The ship carried 20 tons of clothes on board.
The Deputy Head of the Governorate’s Executive Office, Judge Hassan Naous, indicated in a statement to reporters that the aid was prepared and packed by members of the Syrian community in Bulgaria and some Bulgarian citizens. He pointed out that this is not the first time the Syrian community sends aid to their fellow citizens in the homeland, as it previously sent relief aid during the earthquake crisis as part of other the aid convoys sent from several friendly countries since the first moments of the earthquake disaster in February 2023.
Naous pointed out that the staff working in the port of Tartous will unload and prepare this aid so that it can be delivered to those who need it through the governorate’s relief subcommittee.
Captain Walid Yassin said that the ship’s journey took four and a half days since its departure until its arrival at the port of Tartous, whose management cooperated and provided necessary facilitation.
