Shenzhen Nanshan Museum shows Syrian artifacts

“Incredible Syria” is the slogan of the exhibition being held in the Nanshan Museum in the Chinese city of Shenzhen between the 4th of August and the 7th of November 2021.

The 4-month event that aims to enhance cultural exchange between Syria and China shows a set of unique Syrian artifacts which were loaned to China in  accordance with signed agreement between the General Directorate for Antiquities and Museums and the Foundation of Art Exhibitions in China with the support of the Syrian Embassy in Beijing and Chinese National Cultural Heritage Administration, according to the Syrian News Agency (SANA).

The artifacts were collected from nine Syrian museums representing several geographical regions that express the richness of the Syrian civilization and its heritage. They date back to consecutive historical eras, as a section of the exhibition was dedicated to showing the historical exchanges between Syria and China on the Silk Road.

“The exhibition aims to boost cooperation and cultural exchange between Syria and China and deepen the knowledge and interest of Chinese friends in the richness and the ancient history of Syria, “said the cultural and media official at the Syrian Embassy in Beijing, Dr. Fadi Wassouf.

The exhibition in Shenzhen is the first leg of a two-year tour, where the artifacts will be transported to other exhibitions inside Chinese cities.
