Shatyyeh calls on UNESCO to prevent the Israeli occupation from establishing a settlement outpost near the archaeological area in Sebastia

The Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammed Shatyyeh called on the United Stations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to intervene to prevent the Israeli occupation authorities from establishing a settlement outpost near the archaeological area in the town of Sebastia in the city of Nablus in the West Bank.

Shatyyeh warned in statements reported by Wafa Agency today that the establishment of the settlement outpost by the occupation will cause severe damage to the archaeological area.

Shtayyeh called on the Palestinian people in all places of their presence in the world, on supporters of justice and freedom and on those in solidarity with the Palestinian cause, to go out next Monday, 15th May, and gather at squares to demand an end to the Israeli occupation and call for the restoration of the Palestinians’ legitimate, and inalienable national rights, foremost of which is the right of refugees to return to their homes.

Shtayyeh noted the resolution issued by the General Assembly last November, which called for dedicating its activities in 2023 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Nakba, including the holding of a high-level event in the General Assembly Hall on May 15. This resolution constitutes a promising beginning for a broad and effective international movement against the war of extermination and ethnic cleansing practiced by the occupation against the Palestinians.
