Shamkhani: Respecting the sovereignty of the countries of the region is a basis for establishing peace

Tehran (ST): The Secretary of the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani, stressed that respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries of the region is one of the basic ingredients for establishing peace in them.

Shamkhani said during his meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart (USOPF) in the Azerbaijani capital Baku: “Continuous work to establish peace in the region is one of Iran’s main strategies”, explaining that “respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the countries of the region is one of the basic ingredients for establishing peace.”

He added “Imported security cannot guarantee the interests of the countries of the region in the long term, and the only way to achieve sustainable security is responsible cooperation between their countries,” referring to Iran’s opposition to any action that leads to insecurity and changes in the geopolitics of the region.
