Shaaban: Zionist Aggression on Gaza Failed to Achieve its Goals

DAMASCUS, (ST)-Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban, the Presidential Political and Media Advisor, has affirmed that “the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip has failed to achieve its goals and that the Palestinian resistance has proved great awareness about the goals of this aggression”.

Shaaban, who was speaking on the sideline of the opening ceremony of the “Palestine Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow” Photography Exhibition held at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus, called on the Arab people to back the Palestinian people, because the aggression targets all the Arabs.

“Those supporting Gaza are actually supporting themselves,” Shaaban said.

She pointed out that the American intervention in Iraq aims to protect the US-made division in Iraq, because the Americans defend only part of the Iraqi people not all of it.

She asserted that “the terrorism targeting the Iraqi people is the same suffered by the Syrian people.”

Shaaban urged the United States and the world’s great powers to adopt a clear stance towards terrorism and to differentiate between terrorism on the one hand and resistance and peoples’ right to resist occupation on the other.

“Fighting terrorism isn’t a selective action, it should be a comprehensive process everywhere in the world not only where interests are achieved,” she stressed.

Mikdad: Israeli aggression n Gaza a plan to undermine the Palestinian cause

For his part, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal al-Mikdad reiterated that the aggression against Gaza is an old plan to undermine the Palestinian cause, “therefore, they drowned Syria, Iraq and Lebanon with terrorism.”

Al-Mikdad pointed out that “those supporting the so-called “Islamic State in Iraq and Levant” are the hypocrites of the western countries whose hypocrisy has lately been evident when they didn’t support the Syrian and Iraqi people against terrorism, but sought achieving other purposes.”

He affirmed Syria’s firm supportive stance on the Palestinian cause despite threats and conspiracies targeting the country.
