DAMASCUS, (ST)- “Syria has sought political solutions and called for the culture of dialogue ever since the beginning of the crisis because it wants to prevent bloodshed, ‘underscored Presidential Political and Media Advisor Buthaina Shaaban.
Addressing reporters on the sidelines of the National Media Workshop and the Ongoing Challenges, held at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus on Tuesday, Shaaban underlined that the side who wants war to happen on the Syrian land is the Israeli enemy and its various tools.
“The Syrian state, however, has called for political solution since the first day of the crisis ,” she reiterated, adding that those who hinder this solution are “the puppets which diametrically known that they don’t represent the Syrian people and have no future in the ballot boxes.”
“This is why [these puppets] are afraid to follow the path of the political solution which would definitely lead to these boxes,” Shaaban added.
Asked about the intensive appearance of President Bashar al-Assad on Arab and international media outlets,Shaaban replied” to correct the image about the reality of the situation in Syria and convey it to the people across the globe.”
Shaaban further explained that the repeated appearance of the President comes at a time when Syria continues to face an intensive war of disinformation that includes falsification and distortion of facts contrary to the role of media as a conveyor not a distorter of the truth.
“this workshop aims to make a realistic and transparent review of the Syrian media and draw out a vision and a strategy for work in the next stage to upgrade performance, “stressed Shaaban.
In this regard, she lauded the Syrian media’s role during the current crisis as regards conveying the truth to the Syrian people and the world as well, offering sacrifices and martyrs.
“hence, the next step for national media will be to develop a clearer strategy regarding the political views guiding this media and to communicate with world media networks to make the voice of Syria reach to the entire world.
Shaaban: Russia’s efforts are in line with international law
In another context, Shaaban stressed that Russia’s efforts are in line with the UN Charter and the international law and indicate its care for the Syrian people and preventing bloodshed.
“Russia has been closely following up on the Syrian file and particularly after the incident of Khan al-Assal near Aleppo, where chemical weapons were used by the armed terrorist groups,”Shaaban told Russia Today TV.
Shaaban made it clear that Russia submitted to the UN and the UN Security Council documents proving that “those who call themselves an opposition used chemical weapons against the Syrian people”.
She stressed that accusing the Syrian state of chemical weapons use is a form of aggression and an attempt to distort the image of the Syrian state “which didn’t and will not use such weapons and had never done such a thing before.”
Shaaban pointed out that the ongoing talks between the international inspectors and the Syrian side focus on guaranteeing all facilitations so as to allow the inspectors to carry out their missions objectively and transparently in order to be able to reach the facts on the ground.
” the reason for not talking about the sites to which the inspectors will go has to do with security considerations regarding the inspectors’ safety,”underscored Shaaban.
“Syria has been facing media waves aimed to defame the Syrian government through trying to circulate accusations against the Syrian state and try to present them reality,”added Shaaban.
Shaaban hoped that the international committee investigating the chemical weapons use in Syria will carry out its duties transparently and be able to reach the truth without having pressures imposed on it.
Shaaban affirmed that Syria expressed its readiness to participate in conference ‘Geneva II’ conference without preconditions, while the other side which the US calls “the opposition” is the one which did not express readiness for participation.
“We are optimistic about stopping the bloodshed, ending terrorism on the Syrian land and restoring security and stability,” said Shaaban, reaffirming that the political solution is the basic solution.
