DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Presidential Political and media Advisor Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban has stressed that the terrorist war Syria has been facing over the past nine years is not only a military one, it is an intellectual war that targets the country’s history and identity, pointing out that this war needs to be documented in all its aspects.
Interviewed by the Syrian TV on Tuesday evening, Shaaban said “our top and most important project today is to document this war in order to write history with our own hands and translate it to all international languages. The aim is to let the world know the truth about what happened in Syria and help it forget all the lies and illusions created by the western media about the country and to make the heroic deeds of the Syrian people a major cornerstone in Syria’s history.”
Shaaban, who is the chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of “Wathiqat Wattan” organization which was established in 2016, went on to say that the project of Wathiqat Wattan aims to document the life of intellectuals as well as the years of the war with all its aspects through making the oral history of Syria by Syrians and through people’s testimonies.
Wathiqat Wattan is a research center that provides the government with valuable ideas that serve Syria, according to Shaaban.
The presidential advisor went on to say that during the years of war, the Syrian people have proved to the entire world that they enjoy high levels of awareness, belongingness and adherence to the homeland’s firm national principles.
She asserted that the unilateral coercive measures imposed by the United States on Syria and on many other countries are illegitimate, condemning Washington’s recent threats to sanction individuals or companies that will take part in Damascus International Fair due to kick off today.
Shaaban referred to the shift in the popular stance towards Syria in many countries of the world except those countries which have spent millions of dollars to support terrorism and back the war on Syria and which bet on overthrowing the Syrian government. She stressed that the governments of these countries will change their stance on Syria at the end.
