Shaaban: Voices of the Palestinian prisoners at the Israeli jails must be conveyed to the world

DAMASCUS, Oct.18, (ST)- The Embassy of the State of Palestine held a solidarity event with the Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli occupation’s jails , entitled “A stand of support for our heroic prisoners.”

During the event , which was held on Tuesday at the embassy’s headquarters in Damascus, Special Adviser at the Presidency of the Republic, Buthaina Shaaban said that the voices of the Palestinian prisoners at the Israeli jails and the crimes being perpetrated against them by the Israeli entity must be conveyed to everywhere in this world.
She saluted the prisoners and the Palestinian men, women and children, who are not only defending Palestine but also every Arab citizen.

Shaaban asserted that the Israeli occupation entity wants to have hegemony over the region, so every Arab must shed light on the issues of prisoners, Palestine and the resistance, and that we all must unite for the future of our children and grandchildren.

She affirmed that the issue of prisoners is everyone’s responsibility, and we have to devote the media to serve the Palestinian cause and its resistant people.

For his part, the Palestinian ambassador in Damascus, Samir Al-Rifaee, said that the Israeli occupation is the most horrific type of occupation in history, and the policies and legislation applied in its prisons aim to undermine the health, mind and psychology of the prisoners within the framework of a systematic war of attrition that disregards all international conventions.

The ambassador added that the occupation entity is not satisfied with the unjust punishments imposed by the military courts on the heroic prisoners, but continues to punish them for many years through procedures and violations against them such as brutal arrest, torture, abuse, violence, medical neglect, detention of children and collective punishments inside and outside the prison, i.e. arresting parents and brothers and destroying homes.

In this context, the Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine – General Command,  Talal Naji, clarified that the number of prisoners in the Israeli occupation’s jails since 1967 exceeded one million, referring to the arbitrary measures and brutal practices of the occupation entity against the prisoners.

The head of the Committee of Supporting the Released Prisoners and Syrian Prisoners in the Israeli Occupation’s jails, Ali Younes, talked about the importance of partcipation in solidarity activities with the prisoners, who are a symbol of the pride and constitute a direct frontline of confrontation with the occupation entity.
