Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, confirmed that the Turkish occupation is using flimsy pretexts to keep the terrorists operating under its umbrella in the northwest of Syria. This is internationally rejected because no country has the right to defend its security within the borders of another country. She noted that the Turkish regime does not adhere to its commitments with Russia, and makes arguments to implement its ambitions in the Syrian and Iraqi lands.
In an exclusive interview with the Syrian TV channel, Dr. Shaaban said that after the failure of the terrorist war against Syria, Turkey and the United States intervened to defend their agents and proxies in the region. Syria was on the verge of liberating Al-Tanf region, had it not been for the direct intervention of the United States to preserve the terrorists there and to sever the relationship between Syria, Iraq and Jordan thus separating the Arab countries from each other and depriving them of normal communication. This is part of the economic siege imposed on the Syrian people.
Shaaban indicated that the goal of the wars led by the West today is the fragmentation of countries from within, and the formation of regional blocs against these countries. What is happening in Iran is part of a systematic plan to break the axis of resistance, and falls within the American strategy of exhausting Russia and Iran, and the continuation of the siege on Syria. However Russia is fighting today to make this a multi-polar world.
On the relationship with Russia and Iran, Shaaban pointed out that the Russian special military operation to protect Donbass proved that the relationship between Syria and Russia is solid, and has become stronger than before.
Syria focused, under the leadership of President Bashar Al-Assad, on making the formulas of joint Arab action real, not formal or just decisions that are not implemented and words that do not lead to any result, Shaaban added. What is happening between Syria, Algeria and Oman are real steps in search of essential formulas for real joint Arab action, not for holding meetings. Other countries may join this method for joint Arab action.
Shaaban stressed that Syria’s steadfastness during the years of war against it was essential to the transformations taking place in the world. There is no alternative to steadfastness in our attempts to get out of the crisis by all possible means in cooperation with friends and allies, and therefore we are defending our culture and our future in the face of Western countries that seek to dominate and control our countries and our region.
Shaaban stressed that Syria will return to being united, and will not give up its land, no matter how long the occupation takes.
In the context of the Syrian youth’s role in documenting events during the war, Dr. Shaaban, the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the “Watan Document” Foundation, asserted that the foundation’s goal is” to date all of our oral treasures, as the idea began when we were assured that this war does not target a regime or individuals, but rather targets the identity of the Syrian state in its ancient cultural and historical manifestations.”
Shaaban illustrated that documentation preserves identity and proves existence in the face of the greedy and the invaders.
The Foundation began documenting handicrafts, the Syriac language, church rituals and the war on Syria, Shaaban pointed out, underlining the importance of each state institution having a documentation center, because it is owned by generations. The Watan Document Foundation has more than 1,200 interviews that talk about Aleppo prison and the heroism of officers and soldiers at Kweris Airport, Lattakia countryside, Hama, Aleppo, Raqqa, Al-Hasakah, and others, as part of documenting the war on Syria.
Shaaban underscored that today’s war is an intellectual war before it is military and economic, as it is a war of ideas, visions and on how the future should be molded. So the main goal of documenting these works is not to allow the enemy to lie about our history, and we also think of creating a YouTube channel for the “Watan Document” through which we publish short films about the course of this terrorist war on Syria and the stories of these people.
Shaaban indicated that it was agreed with the National Union of Syrian Students to allocate this year’s prize to students because when this war began, they were at a young age and we wanted to discover how they lived this experience and how they worked and continued their studies. We discovered that cooperation with other institutions in the state is very important for the integration of the stories of the homeland with all its sons.
