The United States and the West have no regard to people’s lives and their claims about the humanitarian situation in Syria are false, Special Adviser to the Syrian Presidency Bouthaina Shaaban said in an interview with RT on Saturday.
She clarified that if the U.S. and the West want to prove their honesty, they should immediately and unconditionally lift all the coercive economic measures without exceptions, not to issue misleading decisions that aim at giving a false humanitarian impression after the earthquake that hit Syria.
Shaaban described the situation in Syria as difficult due to earthquake, clarifying that the Cabinet declared the provinces of Aleppo, Lattakia, Hama and Idlib as disaster areas and that what worsens the situation there is the US and European coercive economic that impede Syria’s efforts to develop means of assisting the people trapped under the rubble.
“The Americans keep claiming that they allowed humanitarian aid to enter Syria, this is not true, as the Western countries disregard the humanitarian issue and they are only concerned about the political situation,” she pointed out.
“Syria doesn’t trust what the Americans say about the humanitarian situation in the country, because all their claims are far from truth,” Shaaban said, explaining that the US State Department’s statement on a new US decision to partially and temporarily freeze some unilateral coercive measures is misleading and came to give a false humanitarian impression after the wide international calls for lifting the blockade imposed on Syria, particularly in the wake of the earthquake.
Shaaban also said that the Europeans have not provided any help to Syria to adress the repercussions of the earthquake. However, many Syrian expatriates in these countries have been trying to transfer money to Syria to help the quake-affected people, but they couldn’t do so due to the American and European sanctions.
“In addition to imposing illegal coercive measures, Washington continues to occupy parts of northern and eastern Syria and it steals country’s oil, gas and wheat. All can watch the dozens of tankers and trucks leaving the Syrian territory towards the American bases in northern Iraq,” Shaaban said, asking: “How can a country, that is a member of the United Nations and that claims to give lessons in humanity and morals, steal Syrian oil in front of the entire world?
The Americans also claim that the presence of their forces in Syria aims at fighting ISIS terrorist organization, but in fact, they support ISIS as well as the SDF separatist militia with the aim of implementing their destructive agends in Syria and the region, Shaaban addded.
She reaffirmed that Syria is on the side of Russia and China and the countries that adhere to the Syrian sovereignty and independent decision and it believes that the multipolar world is a necessity to end the hegemony of the West.
