Shaaban: Russian forces reduction is natural development after cessation of hostilities

Damascus – Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban said the Russian decision to reduce the contingent of Russian forces in Syria is a natural development after the cessation of hostilities agreement.

Speaking to RT TV on Tuesday, Shaaban said the Russian Aerospace Forces have fulfilled all the objectives agreed upon between the Russian and Syrian sides, and that the decision to reduce the contingent came after reaching a Russian-Syrian mutual understanding of the nature of the coming stage and the need to support the political solution for the crisis in Syria, SANA reported.

 

She said that Damascus welcomes the Russian-US coordination in regards to stability in Syria and the region, adding that the Syrian side is expecting the US to exert more pressure on those who reject settlements in Syria.
