Shaaban receives Russian delegation

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ The Presidential  Advisor for  Politics and Media  Dr. Buthaina Shaaban received on Wednesday Orina Zvyiegelskaya, Director of the Center for Middle East Studies at the Research Institute for International Economics and International Relations and the accompanying delegation.
 
The meeting was held at the headquarters of Wathiqat Wattan Foundation in Abu Rummaneh area in Damascus and the talks between the two sides dealt with the importance of information.
 
 Dr. Shaaban told the delegation that the foundation is interested in oral history, through the collection, recording, documentation and preservation of oral testimonies and narratives, in accordance with research and scientific methodologies, and developing plans and strategies for the interim and long-term future to build archives and databases of oral history.
 
She underscored the need to write down the history of Syria by Syrians and not by others.
 
Dr. Shaaban pointed out that the main goal of the war on Syria is to undermine its national identity and its unity and co-existence, briefing the delegation on the “My Story” Contest which was launched three years ago by the foundation of Wathiqat Wattan to narrate the stories of people during the time of war.
 
For her part,  Zvyiegelskaya talked about the importance of what is being done by the Syrian foundation, referring to the fact that the Russian center is studying the effects of wars on the national identifies and societies .
 
She indicated that the Russian center will study the outcome of the war on the Syrian people, expressing her will to cooperate with the Wathiqat Wattan foundation.
