Shaaban: presidential election Continuous challenge Imposed on the Syrian people, reconciliations Real Political Solution

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ The Political and Media Advisor at the Syrian Presidency Dr. Butheina Shaaban stressed that presidential elections in Syria are part of the challenge imposed on the Syrian people.

In an interview with al-Mayadeen TV this night, Shabaan said that the scene of the Syrian citizens in Lebanon while casting their votes in the Syrian Embassy was not surprising, pointing out that there is a real change in Syrian public opinion and that there is a paradox between the tangible actual reality and what is promoted by Syria’s enemies.

“Reconciliation are but an inter- Syrian real political solution, pointing signs of reconciliation that are taking place in Damascus, Daraa, Homs, Deir ez-Zor and Aleppo countryside.

Shabaan revealed that some opposition parties want to return to Syria, and dialogue is underway with them, noting that there are no preparations for Geneva 3 and that the political process is stalled because Geneva did not produce anything, and no Syrian is betting on it, and that the Syrian government accepted the Geneva before others but the problem was in the fragmentation of the so called ” opposition.”

She indicated that the Arab League has been the spearhead in targeting Syria since the first day of the crisis, and that most of the decisions it had taken were against Syria and the interest of the Syrian people, pointing that some Arab countries continues this approach in filing draft resolutions against Syria at the UN Security Council and the General Assembly.

Shaaban explained that the contacts are continuing with certain Gulf, Arab and Western states, wishing to open channels with Damascus, stressing that the criterion for Syria is the resistance and serving the supreme Arab interests.

On the results of the elections in Egypt, Shaaban said that the Egyptian people had their say and the relationship between the Syrian and Egyptian peoples are strong,intimate, historical, noting that the pulse of the Egyptian street is to maintain the relationship with Syria, especially after the crisis that has gripped Egypt and the sufferings of the Egyptians from terrorism.

On American statements to support terrorists in Syria, Shaaban said that such statements come whenever morale of the militants deteriorate as a talk for media consumption to boost morale.

She hinted the US contradictory positions of both the crisis in Syria or global crises, saying that the West is losing its dominance in the world and that the future is for the new alliances, emerging in East Asia, China and Iran, stressing that Syria is, with friendly alliances and understandings, that are based on international legitimacy.

She pointed to the existence of positive signals toward Damascus from Western nations for political dialogues after Syria had previously rejected handling security cooperation, unless coupled with political cooperation.

As for Syria’s relationship with Federal Russia Shaaban noted Russia stances with Syria, noting that Syria is keen to develop distinctive historical relations with Russia at all levels.
