Damascus – The Special Advisor at the Syrian Presidency Bouthaina Shaaban, who is the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Al-Quds International Foundation- Syria, has stressed that what Syria has achieved during the past period has become a lesson to the entire world that “encourages us to work and join efforts to reach the highest goal which is the liberation of Palestine from the Israeli occupation”.
Shaaban, who was speaking during the annual meeting of the Board of Trustees, said that President Bashar Al-Assad’s participation in the Arab Summit in Jeddah didn’t only announce Syria’s victory; it also announced the failure of the many schemes that were funded by the most powerful countries of the world. She pointed out that “this victory indicates that the people who believe in their cause can’t be defeated and they will triumph in the end, it is a matter of patience”.
Shaaban went on to say that during the past difficult decade, President Al-Assad kept stressing on the idea of maintaining hope and on not losing this hope even in the most difficult circumstances. She affirmed that this idea is also very important for the Palestinian people to remain hopeful as they are the real owners of the land and the occupation will be defeated sooner or later.
She clarified that the resistance of the Palestinian people to the Israeli occupation is growing and flaring up not only in Gaza, but throughout Palestine, noting that Palestine has been targeted like Syria, the beating heart of Arabism, because this nation has cultural and civilizational treasures that no one dreams of, and because the enemies fear the unity and strength of this nation.
Shaaban asserted that the world will have a multi-polar system in which the West will no longer be able to claim that it protects freedom, democracy and human rights as the West knows well that it is collapsing. She urged the Arab media to be cautious about the western terms which aim at feeding division among the Arabs and to focus on the sacrifices of the Palestinian and Syrian people as a bright part of the history of the Arab nation.
For his part, Archbishop Atallah Hanna of Sebastia for the Greek Orthodox said in a voice message addressing participants in the meeting “attacking Al-Aqsa Mosque and Islamic endowments and sanctities is an attack on Muslims, Christians and all the Palestinian people and the entire Arab nation. “Those who are attacking our Christian sanctities and endowments are attacking all the Palestinian people and the entire Arab nation. We must be united, both Christians and Muslims, in defense of Al-Quds,” he stressed.
He called on the Islamic and Christian spiritual references in the East and in the world to enhance interaction, cooperation and consultation in defense of the Holy City of Al-Quds which the occupation seeks to steal, plunder, displace its people and steal its sanctities and endowments.
He hailed the role being played by Al-Quds International Foundation in defending Al-Quds, its sanctities and its Arab Palestinian identity and in defending all the just rights of the Palestinian people, foremost of which is their right to return to their land that was stolen from them.
