Shaaban on Land Day: Golan, Al-Quds “Eyes of the Nation”
DAMASCUS, (ST)-The Syrian Golan and al-Quds (Jerusalem) of Palestine are the “eyes of the nation” and all should defend them, stressed the Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban, reiterating that “clinging to the land plus readiness to sacrifice to defend this land is our only option.”
Shaaban’s remarks were made on Sunday at the opening of the “Land Day…From Golan to al-Quds” Forum, held in Damascus with the participation of a number of Arab and Palestinian researchers and thinkers.
She said “people who are defending al-Quds and the Golan are actually defending themselves and their Arabism, religion and future and nobody have to claim any favor in this, because all of us are targeted.”
“If we don’t feel this danger our enemies will fragment our land and violate our dignity, history and heritage,” Shaaban added.
She pointed out that “the war being waged on Syria is not a sectarian or regional one; it is rather a war on our land to dominate it, as the Zionist schemes aim to dominate the region, yet the only response should be clinging to resistance, sacrifice and martyrdom to defend every inch of the land.”
She stressed that land is a major condition for the existence of mankind and human civilization.
“Through a political view to the human history, we find that land was the focus and target of all conflicts. Original peoples in the Americas, Canada and Australia were exterminated to dominate their lands and for the same reason Zionism has committed massacres throughout history to dominate not only the Palestinian land but all the Arab territories,” Shaaban said.
The political advisor stressed the Arabs and the Syrians’ insistence to restore the occupied Syrian Golan, recalling late President Hafez Al-Assad’s remarks when he said” we won’t concede an inch of the Golan soil”, because, she said, “land is dignity and if one thinks to concede a part of his land, that means that he is ready to concedes his dignity.”
She added “it is not strange that global powers, foremost of which is Zionism, target our land and Palestine, because this land is the cradle of heavenly religions and civilizations and is located in the heart of the world.”
Shaaban reiterated that the Arab-Zionist conflict explains all what is going on in the Arab territories, pointing out that we should realize that the Palestinian cause is the central cause and that targeting the Palestinians is the first step to target all the Arabs.”
For his part, Talal Naji, Assistant Secretary-General of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (General Command) said Syria is being targeted for its insistence to defend the Palestinian cause and to liberate the occupied Palestinian lands.
The Western states want Arab leaders to collude with them on terminating the national rights of the Palestinian people trying to make use of Syria’s being busy defending its lands against foreign-backed terrorism.
