Shaaban meets Syrian students in Tehran and emphasizes their role in building country

Dr. Buthaina Shaaban, Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, stressed the importance of the role of students in transferring science and knowledge, building, advancing and developing society, and keeping pace with the requirements of the age of technology and modernization.

During her meeting at the headquarters of the Syrian Embassy in Tehran in the presence of Ali Abbas, head of the Tehran branch of the Syrian Student Union, and a number of Syrian students studying in Iranian universities, Dr. Shaaban gave a presentation on the latest developments on the national scene, stressing the importance of the students’ role in the development and production process in Syria.

Shaaban said, “Students must pursue and complete their studies, and return to Syria to contribute to its reconstruction and development by linking their research and scientific projects to production, which will reflect positively on the development process in it.”

Shaaban underlined the important role of students in introducing the civilization and culture of their country to their foreign colleagues, through interaction with them and their participation in scientific, cultural and research activities.

During the meeting, Darren Suleiman, President of the National Union of Syrian Students, stressed the importance of the pioneering, effective and influential role of students in building, enriching, developing and modernizing society, through their scientific specialties that keep pace with the requirements of the times, gaining experiences through scientific, cultural and research interaction with their foreign colleagues, and transferring Syrian culture and civilization to them.

“Students are an important and effective national factor in the process of building and rehabilitating the productive and industrial sectors and the production cycle,” Suleiman said, stressing full support for students in their academic career and overcoming obstacles that hinder their educational path through communication with the authorities concerned with student affairs.

For his part, the Syrian ambassador to Tehran, Dr. Shafiq Dayoub, stressed that the students play an important role in building bridges of culture, science and knowledge between their country and their colleagues in Iranian universities from other countries. He expressed the embassy’s full readiness to communicate with the students and follow up on their scientific affairs and work to overcome the obstacles that hinder their studying through communication with the concerned authorities in Iran and Syria.

For his part, Head of the Tehran branch of the Syrian Student Union, Ali Abbas, reviewed the work and activities of the Iran branch of the Student Union in Iranian universities, and the interaction and communication with foreign students in the field of scientific and knowledge research and cultural activities. He noted that Syrian students are distinguished in their specialized scientific studies and are achieving great success. He stressed that work is being done seriously by the branch to communicate with all Syrian students studying in various Iranian universities, follow up on their affairs and overcome the obstacles that hinder their studying.
