Shaaban discusses with Russian professors cooperation in documenting the war on Syria

DAMASCUS, DEC.7, (ST)- Special Adviser at the Presidency, Bouthaina Shaaban, who chairs the Board of Trustees of the “Wathiqat Wattan” Foundation, received on Tuesday Russian professors and researchers from the institute of World Economy and International Relations ( IMEMO) and Primakov Center for International Cooperation.

Shaaban, affirmed the need for communication and coordination between Syrian and Russian academics to document the events that took place during the terrorist war on Syria  for the coming  generations.

“ The Turkish occupation of some parts in northern Syria is considered as one of the most dangerous occupation from which Syria has suffered in light of the systematic Turkification policy practiced by turkey in areas it occupies, as it teaches the Turkish language and imposes the Turkish pound in transactions instead of Syrian Lira,” she said, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

Shabban clarified that the “Wathiqat Wattan” foundatiin documents the names and the history of the Syrian areas because the  Turkish occupation’s project targets both the Syrian and Arab identities.

She asserted that the repeated Turkish, American and Israeli attacks on Syria target the unity of the Syrian people, who proved that they are stronger than these powers.

For their part, the Russian professors expressed their hope that cooperation with Syria would be enhanced  in order to work together to document the experiences and stories of the Russians who lived in Syria and participated with Syrian army in defeating terrorism.

The Director of the Russian Institute said that the meeting with Shaaban dealt with cooperation with the Syrian side in the field of humanitarian, historical and cultural issues in addition to the national identity, preservation of tangible and immaterial heritage, popular history and a number of scientific issues.
