Shaaban: By fighting terrorism, Syria has served all peoples of the world

Damascus, (ST) – The Special Adviser to the Presidency of the Republic, Dr. Bouthaina Shaaban met today with the delegation of the European Front for Defending Syria and the Italian Casa Pound party.

During the meeting, members of the delegation reviewed the history of the party and the Front and the importance of their standing by the Syrian people.

They also talked about the relations and efforts that are being made to shed light on the media distortion that is practiced towards Syria.

Dr. Shaaban stressed that the delegation’s understanding of what happened in Syria during the terrorist war it was exposed to and the injustice that befell the Syrian people is very important. She referred to the activities carried out by the party at the Italian and European levels in terms of standing with Syria and the Syrian people and government in the war against terrorism and maintaining Syria’s independent decision.

Shaaban pointed out that it is important, at this historical stage, to strengthen relations between peoples, and to let them know the cultural and civilizational depth of Syria, and the justice for which the Syrian people have fought and offered martyrs and wounded in order to eliminate terrorism, a matter that hasn’t only served Syria, but served the entire world also.

Shaaban affirmed that the sanctions imposed on Syria have affected all aspects of life in the country and negatively impacted the Syrian people livelihood.

For his part, the Head of the Italian delegation, GianLuca Iannone, Head of the Casa Pound Party, expressed his appreciation for the hospitality the delegation received. He pointed out that the real battle is to show the media distortion that was practiced during the war on Syria.

Iannone added that work in the next phase should focus on confronting the unjust economic blockade on the Syrian people. He pointing out that a set of steps will be taken to stand with Syria, including raising slogans to demand the lifting of coercive sanctions against the Syrian people in 150 Italian cities.

In turn, the party’s foreign relations official Giovanni Viola referred to the positive change that he felt during his visit to Syria. He  indicated that there are a number of projects that have been implemented in Syria during the last stage, including the provision of health, medical and relief aid.

The party’s youth official Valerio Flacomia said that the party is carrying out a range of activities, especially at universities and schools in Italy with the aim of shedding light on what is happening in Syria, through workshops and seminars that focus mainly on the young generation due to their important future role and to get them to know the true picture about Syria.

The delegation includes representatives from the European Front for the Defending Syria and the Italian Casa Pound party and Head of the Syrian community in Italy Jamal Abu Abbas.
