Sewage leakage in Gaza as a result of the aggression threatens a disaster

A serious health and environmental catastrophe threatens the cities, towns and camps of the besieged Gaza Strip, as a result of the cessation of sewage stations due to the  the Israeli occupation cutting off electricity and preventing the entry of fuel since the beginning of its ongoing aggression for the 31st day, in addition to the occupation’s deliberate bombing of infrastructure and public facilities.

Muhammad Abu Mahdi from the Nuseirat camp in the middle of the Gaza Strip told a SANA reporter: The streets and alleys of the camp have turned into swamps due to the leakage of sewage water while the stations have stopped withdrawing  sewage  after the fuel ran out .

Sewage surrounded the UNRWA shelters, where more than 600,000 displaced people who lost their homes took refuge, especially in the northern and central Gaza Strip, which exacerbated their suffering, especially in terms of health and environment.

Abdul Hadi Baraka, a displaced person in a shelter center, confirms that sewage has begun to” accumulate in the center’s courtyards and has no drainage ,”he said: “In addition to our suffering and displacement from our homes that were demolished by the occupation, we are drowning in swamps of sewage.”

The suffering of those afflicted by the Israeli aggression does not stop there, garbage is piled up in the streets, emitting unpleasant odors and threatening public health ,this is due to the inability of trucks to transport it as fuel is running out and the occupation aircrafts target every moving car, with the aim of paralyzing the lives of Palestinians who are threatened with death under bombardment or as a result of sickness, hunger and thirst.

Another aspect of suffering is narrated by the people of the northern Gaza Strip, in which they explain the difficulty of obtaining a loaf of bread, after all bakeries stopped working, either due to the occupation destroying them or running out of flour and fuel.

Muhammad Al-Kahlot from Jabalia camp, which is being  bombed around the clock by the occupation, says: “Children and women in the camp are dying of hunger and thirst ,for example, I have not received a single loaf of bread for my children for two days, and this applies to all residents of the camp who face the Israeli death machine and defend the camp ,warning of the death of hundreds of children and women from hunger and thirst if the Israeli occupation continues to cut off all lifelines in the Gaza Strip and destroy everything in it”.
