Several US-backed SDF militants killed and wounded in an attack on their positions in Deir Ezzor countryside

Scores of US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) separatist militia were killed and wounded in an attack by unidentified persons on their positions in the vicinity of Al-Sheheil town in the countryside of Deir Ezzor.

Local sources told SANA that explosions occurred near one of the positions of the SDF militia. The explosion was followed by heavy gunfire at the outskirts of the town of Al-Sheheil, causing the death and injury of several militants and the burning of SDF-affiliated military equipment.

According to the sources, the SDF militia brought reinforcements to back its militants and cordoned off the area in search for the attackers.

Attacks on the positions of the SDF militia in the Syrian Jazira region have witnessed notable escalation. On Friday, two militants were killed when unidentified persons opened fire directly at them in the town of Jadeed Bakara, to the southeast of Deir Ezzor.
